RBW 2008
I have a bit of an announcement to make.
There has been some confusion as to whether or not I'll be attending RBW this year. There were flyers distributed at Eurofurence that listed me as one of the attractions. There is also a graphic on the RBW website that shows me, along with other guests of honor for this year. This evening, RBW sent out an e-mail saying that all of their GOHs were set to attend the event.
While I don't believe any false advertising is intended here, I think it might be a little bit misleading to some folks.
Earlier this year, I sent e-mails to the RBW chairman and at Eurofurence in August, I spoke with FoxB directly. He graciously invited me to attend RBW this year and I had to regretfully refuse.
My reasons for turning him down have not been what some folks have rumored them to be. I think RBW is a very professional event, run by a gracious and responsible set of furs. I have always had fun at every RBW event I have attended, and was rather disappointed that I could not make it this year.
The fact is that RBW is scheduled over the Thanksgiving holidays this year. I will likely be with my family during this time, which is why I cannot attend RBW.
I suspect there has been some miscommunication, which is why I still appear on the web site. And I would feel very bad if anyone showed up to the event expecting to see me there while I'm sitting in my mother's kitchen in Arkansas.
So I want to make it clear. I will not be attending RBW this year. Having spoken with FoxB, there is a good possibility that I will attend the 2009 event. But I will not be there this year.
